Born out of IDEA
The idea of VR travel guides that make planning holidays easier and more fun, was born earlier this year. Our founder, Anastasia Pashkovetskaya was taking part in a start-up incubator program IDEA, when she realized that there is a huge issue with the current travel planning process that can be solved with VR. Anastasia has been creating VR experiences for travel brands and government bodies since 2017, and decided to use her knowledge to create the solution. In summer 2019, Globetrotter VR was born.
Our team has spent the second part of 2019 applying for grants from various European funding programs. This initial injection of capital will enable us to develop the prototype VR travel guide, and finance participation in industry events around Europe in 2020, where we aim to showcase our product and get user feedback.
We attended VR Days in Amsterdam, where we met many outstanding VR creators, and participated in a panel discussion on female leadership in the XR industry. Anastasia chaired the panel, alongside Leen Segers, Kiira Benzing and Tameka Kee discussing important topics such as gender identity in VR, creating empathy across genders with a female character, and fundraising opportunities for female creatives. You can learn more about this event here.
We are excited about the New Year, as we will be developing our first VR travel guide to Barcelona! We aim to have a working version by April 2020 and look forward to giving you the opportunity to test it out.
Booking Travel Tours & Activities in VR
We are also looking to develop a direct booking functionality to allow you to book tours directly via the experience. Does that sound cool?
Imagine you experience a destination in VR, check out various fun activities and decide to book several of them for your next trip. Would you like to book directly in VR, without leaving the experience, or come out of VR and book via a supporting website?
